Game: Philadelphia at Pittsburgh (7:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: Pittsburgh -150 (moneyline)
The Pirates are likely heading for a playoffs spot, and they have done so by dominating at home where they are now 28-14 on the season, despite the loss last night. The good news is that they have been even more lethal following a same home stand loss at home, where they are a robust 9-2 on the season, and neither of those loses came at the hands of a losing team. You know the Phillies' situation has changed when they try to fortify their rotation with John Lannan who has had little success vs. Pittsburgh in his career. Lannan owns a 1-4 mark with a 4.53 ERA when battling the Pirates in his career. At 7-1Jeff Locke is backed by a powerful 2.06 ERA, and has been great thus far on the season, owning six shutout innings vs. the Phillies this season. The Pirates have pounded losing teams to the tune of 22-5 in their last 27 against them. Play on Pittsburgh.

BELMONT PARK Race #2 at 1:35 PM Eastern
Top pick: #2 (DIVADORA) (3-1) - She comes off a career best when defeating weaker here on June 12th. She broke sharply, set a fast pace, and drew off to win by 6 1/2 lengths, stopping the clock in a swift 1:09.40 at today's 6-furlong trip. Filly has since come back with a bullet breeze at Fair Hill and is the horse to beat.

2nd pick: #4 (Little Rocket) (2-1) - Very lightly raced home-bred has been freshened up since finishing fourth of six in the $75K "Ruthless" stakes facing "open" company. She has talent and stalker is a win candidate if ready.

3rd pick: #6 (Drinksonthehouse) (8-1) - On the sidelines since late March, mare is a competitive sort (16-2-7-1) and the level and distance are fine for her return. Working steadily at Aqueduct and a threat with her best.

4th pick: #5 (Lenders Way) (6-1) - One of two fillies entered by trainer Jim Ryerson and the pair race uncoupled. Daughter of "Hook and Ladder" rallied to finish second here at this level and distance on June 13th in her second back from a 6 1/2 month layoff and a repeat of that effort makes her a threat.

Game: San Francisco at Cincinnati (1:10 PM Eastern)
Pick: Cincinnati -130 (moneyline)
The San Francisco Giants won it all a year ago, but if they are going to have a chance to defend their crown, they are going to have to step things up - especially on the road. The Giants have been one of the worst road teams in MLB this season, as they enter this contest at 15-30, including 1-10 in their last 11. They have dropped the first three in this series, and the Reds have been shinning brightly at home on the season where they own a 29-14 record. The Reds are 38-15 in their last 53 as a favorite, including 6-0 behind today's chucker Leake. The Giants are just 4-10 in their last 14 here, and overall just 3-7 against the Reds with Cain on the hill. Play on Cincinnati.

BELMONT PARK Race #3 at 2:05 PM Eastern
Top pick: #5 (STREET LORD) (5-2) - He's been freshened up since March 16th when he pressed and weakened before weakening to finish third racing at this level going a two-turn mile on Aqueduct's inner-surface. Trainer Charlton Baker (26% off of long layoffs) has him working very sharply locally, including a pair of back-to-back bullet half-mile breezes on June 24th and 30th. Looks set for a big effort.

2nd pick: #7 (Native Singer) (2-1) - One of two entered by trainer Dom Galluscio and the pair race uncoupled. Gelding had a fine debut when checking in 4th of 11, beaten 2 1/2 lengths racing here on a muddy surface at this level and distance On June 8th. He took some money that day, had trouble at the start, andd draws a nice outside post this afternoon. Win candidate.

3rd pick: #4 (Bernardo) (4-1) - He's finished third in two straight here at this condition and trip and last out was beaten less than a length. Fits, but will have a tough time if both "Lord" and "Singer" improve a bit.

4th pick: #6 (Here He Fitz) (7-2) - Son of "War Chant" has a bit of speed and stretches back out after an even trip here going 6 furlongs on June 7th. Racing at this trip in his previous start, he finished a pace-chasing fourth, and was only a neck back of "Bernardo" on the wire.

BELMONT PARK Race #2 at 3:30 PM Eastern
Top pick: #3 (EVERYDOGHASHISDAY) (5-2) - He rallied to finish second here a week agao when trainer Gary Contessa droped him down to race for a $20K tag for the first time. He dips a bit more on this quick turnaround, meets a weak field, and is the horse to beat.

2nd pick: #8 (Go to the Net) (7-2) - He's had 24 chances to break his maiden and continues to finish within range. Five-year-old comes off a wide trip at this level racing on the local turf and ran third here on the dirt for this tag in late May.

3rd pick: #5 (Fairy Snow) (4-1) - Gelding ran evenly last out in a race where the wiiner "breezed" and came right back to take another. Well-bred 3-year-old is in against a field where he has a solid shot with his best,

4th pick: #1 (Neltherion) (15-1) - Longshot has caught "off" tracks in his first pair and will be dropping down a bit and will be racing from the rail with blinkers on. He has a pair of fine drills since his last race, presumably with the blinkers in place.

Game: Oakland at Pittsburgh (7:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: Oakland -110 (moneyline)
These are teams that are surprisingly leading their divisions as we approach the all-star break, and each will go with a pitcher that has made the all-star team. The Pirates are meeting some adversity now as they have lost their last two series, the last coming at the hands of the lowly Cubs. The A's have rolled to four straight series wins and continue to play solid baseball all the way around. There isn't much difference to measure on the mound here, and the one big difference is the A's, and the AL in general; their ability to win in inter-conference tilts. Oakland is 8-2 in their last 10 in inter-league play vs. a winning team, and 26-9 to a total of 7-8.5 in their last 35. Oakland has also gone 20-6 in Colon's last 26 starts. The Pirates are just 23-51 vs. an interleague club over .500, and are not playing well right now. Play on Oakland.

Game: Seattle at New York (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: New York -6 (-110)
The Seattle Storm has long been a playoffs fixture in the WNBA, but will be hard pressed to get there this season. They lost their top two players to season ending injuries, and this team is a fraction of what it once was. Both of these teams enter with 5-7 records. But the Storm, who has the biggest home court advantage in the WNBA, has not fared well on the road at just 3-5, and making the trip cross country to win is not going to be easy. Seattle has dropped four of their last five overall, and are not playing well right now, and their best answers will be on the sidelines the rest of the campaign. New York was able to win in Seattle, so I expect them to play with urgency, and confidence at home in this one. Play on New York.

Game: Boston at Seattle (10:10 PM Eastern)
Pick: Seattle -130 (moneyline)
The Boston Red Sox have played at a high level for quite some time, but evidence is being served that it won't last all season long. They are taking some bumps right now as they have lost three straight games. It won't get any easier against Hisashi Iwakuma as he has put together a 7-4 season backed by a strong 2.60 ERA. Allen Webster may not be ready for big league hitters as he is 1-2 with a 7.88 ERA. Boston owns just a 20-46 mark in their last 66 posted as a dog, and has proceeded to lose five straight on the road vs. right-handed pitching. The Mariners have served the dagger at home behind Iwakuma to a total from 7 to 8.5 where they are 10-1 in their last 11. The Red Sox have had trouble here of late as they are just 3-7 in their last 10 here. Take the home team.

Game: Texas at Baltimore (7:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: Baltimore -138 (moneyline)
Josh Lindblom will make his fifth career start for the Texas Rangers tonight, the last coming all the way back on June 20th. He has fared much better out of the pen, and his four starts claim an ERA of 5.40 on the season. Baltimore certainly has the bats to do some damage here. Wei-Yin Chen has pitched to a 3.03 ERA on the season, and has finally recovered from an oblique injury. The Orioles have been very good at picking up the pieces after a loss, as they have followed a setback by producing a 44-18 mark in their next contest over the last 62 occurrences. Look for a strong effort tonight and back Baltimore.
